Melissa Purpura
Melissa Purpura serves the City of Oregon as Law Director & Prosecutor. The Law Director is the legal representative for the mayor, city council and all division and department administrative personnel on matters involving the carrying out their duties. Duties of the Law Director include: attendance at city council meetings, preparation and review legal documents such as ordinances, conveyances, land and real estate purchases, consultant services, vehicle leases and purchases, labor contracts and all other legal agreements.
The Law Director also assists in the Administration of labor and employee relations including staff development, and trainings. She also assists in the selection, development and the retaining of the City’s workforce.
As Prosecutor, Melissa represents the City in all litigation and proceedings including the prosecution of violations against City ordinances and laws that fall under the State of Ohio. She attends pre-trial conferences that involve criminal and traffic cases; prosecutes jury trials; works with and provides legal advice to agencies serving the Oregon Municipal Court;
Victim Advocate
Bridget Winkelspecht
Bridget serves the City of Oregon as the Victim Advocate. Briget represents all the victims that come through the Oregon Municipal Court and serves as the voice of those who do not want to be present in court to ensure justice is served on their behalf. Her primary goal is to assist victims/witnesses that are affected by violent crimes and assisting victims/witnesses to regain normalcy in their lives. She empowers them to overcome the negative circumstances they have experienced. This may include physical, mental, and financial trauma. Her other duties include Providing copy of Victim Rights Law, providing list of services/referrals to victim/witness that can help them during their traumatic incident, keep a level of continuity and build a level of trust and maintain a positive relationship with victim/witnesses, liaison between the victim, police officers and the prosecutor working on their case.
Administrative Assistant / Paralegal
Kimberly Vaculik
Kimberly serves the City of Oregon as an Administrative Assistant/Paralegal. Kimberly assists the Law Director/Prosecutor and works with the Victim Advocate along with City Administration. Kimberly provides a variety of complex and diverse administrative support functions which include maintaining case files, monitors deadlines, investigates and analyzes legal documents, conducts research, prepares legal documents; prepares discovery and correspondence for attorneys; prepares tax and zoning complaints for prosecution; is the liaison between the prosecutor and police agencies to obtain all necessary evidence for a case; prepares civil claims; answers phone calls and assist the general public. She also serves as the office manager to the Law Department.
