City Council Meeting Schedule

Regular monthly meetings of Council are held on the second (2) and fourth (4) Monday of each month at 7:00pm in Council Chambers. The Regular Meetings are for formal legislative action.

Committee of the Whole meetings may be held on the first (1) and third (3) Monday of the month, at the discretion of the Council President .

Committee of the Whole meetings focus on engagement and understanding rather than formal legislative action.

Months that have a fifth Monday, the council will not meet on that Monday.

All meetings are open to the public at the Municipal Complex located at 5330 Seaman Road, Oregon, OH 43616.

Committee Meetings focus on topics that require a more in-depth review for the council and administration.  These meetings, while open to the public, are working sessions, and typically, public comments are not taken. Discretion would be up to the chairman or chairwoman of each committee at the time of each meeting.

Please note that everyone is required to go through a metal detector before entering Council Chambers. Only city staff with proper credentials are permitted to bypass the metal detector.

Public Comments at a Council Meeting

Public comments are another way to share your questions, comments, or concerns with the council and administration.  Comments are limited to one (1) five (5) minute period per speaker per meeting.  Any unused time cannot be saved or yielded to another speaker. Once the speaker has addressed the council, they may not speak again at that meeting.

When speaking, please address the council as a whole.  As a matter of procedure, the council will listen but will not engage in dialogue and/or debate during public comments.  If after the speaker’s five (5) minutes the council or administration choose to respond it will be at their discretion. No one is required to respond during public comments.   However, staff will review any questions or concerns and respond if you present the information and your contact details to the Clerk of Council. Public comments are a forum for differing views; however, everyone is expected to maintain decorum to ensure a safe environment. All speakers should conduct themselves with civility and respect. Remarks that may be abusive, profane, racist, antisemitic, and/or personal attacking language will not be tolerated as it is disruptive to the orderly conduct of the council business meeting.

ADA Information and Requests

Requests for interpretation services are required to be submitted at least two (2) business days prior to the City Council meeting. The City will take reasonable steps to reserve interpretation services in the requested language, subject to the availability of a qualified interpreter for the requested meeting. The city will notify you to confirm that an interpreter will be provided.

If interpretation of a full City Council meeting is desired, individuals may watch a recorded meeting broadcast on Oregon’s YouTube Channel and activate translated and/or closed captions within YouTube settings.
