The City of Oregon Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants on Thursday, April 23rd. Work will start in the southeast corner of the city at Brown Road near the east city limits and progress northerly and westerly throughout the city. This program is expected to continue through November (weather and schedule dependent).
What to Expect:
Residents in areas where flushing is taking place may notice temporary water discoloration. Avoid washing laundry while discoloration is present. This is caused by harmless silt and mineral deposits and does NOT affect water safety.
If you experience discoloration:
- Run cold water from a bathtub faucet or outdoor spigot for several minutes until it clears
The Water Department will continue monitoring water quality throughout this process to ensure it remains safe for consumption.
We appreciate your patience as we perform this important system maintenance.
